Following the publication of the circular from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) relating to the revision of certain banking commissions, the Banking and Financial Council (CBF) announces the entry into force of these new provisions from February 12, 2024.

In this context, the CBF demonstrates its usual solidarity and is mobilizing in support of the BCT, to improve pricing conditions, both in terms of monitoring their account, and in terms of the management of their current and payment operations. .

For a period of one year from its effective date, bank customers will be able to benefit from a downward revision of standard rates and even free several services as follows:

  • Free national bank cards up to the balance for individual customers whose net monthly income is less than or equal to 1500 DT,
  • The capping of account maintenance fees at 3 dinars per month for individual customers whose net monthly income is less than or equal to 1,500 DT,
  • A 30% reduction on commissions for transfers issued to Tunisia, carried out by individual customers,
  • Free opposition operations on any national card,
  • Free request for a new PIN code for any type of card,
  • For merchants equipped with POS, national card transaction fees will be reduced and capped at 1.3% of the purchase amount.

In addition to these exceptional measures, banks and financial institutions that are members of the CBF reassure their customers and undertake not to make any increase in current commissions until December 31, 2024.

The Banking and Financial Council underlines on this occasion the involvement and responsible commitment of banks and financial establishments to this process aimed at ensuring better transparency of the pricing applied and an improvement in the quality of services while reducing charges on customers, aiming to promote financial inclusion, reduce the use of cash and develop digital payments.
